How does Salt Pots work?

Salt Pots Ceramic Studio is a paint your own pottery studio based in Saltaire, West Yorkshire. Come along and:

1. Choose a piece of pre fired pottery (called bisque). I have a large selection from classic crockery to money boxes, novelty animals to photo frames.
2. Paint away, asking me as many questions you like.
3. When you have finished I will hand dip the pottery in glaze and fire it in my kiln.
4. You then come back a week later and collect your pottery or I can post it to you at an extra charge.

About me and Salt Pots.....

Salt Pots Ceramic Studio is run by me, Kate, a craft addict, mum to mini Salt Pots, Max & Dylan, and wife to Mr Salt Pots, Chris. I love painting pottery and thought Saltaire would be a brilliant place for a paint your own pottery studio, so Salt Pots was born in January 2012 and moved to fab new premises in November 2012. I left a stressful office job to open Salt Pots and I am passionate about making my little business work. I just hope you think I do a good job and enjoy coming here.

I love painting personalised commissions and so if you don't have time to paint your own pottery, ask me to do it for you! I will have a go at painting anything.

I can also paint wedding favours or gifts for the bridal party

What we do

At Salt Pots Ceramic Studio I love hosting children's pottery painting parties. Why not do something different for your child's next birthday?

I have seating for up to 18 in a dedicated party room or 24 in the main studio and prices to suit all ages and budgets. I have no minimum numbers for childrens parties in the main studio and a minimum number of 10 for parties in the party room.

Why not book a pottery painting party for a special birthday and I will supply pottery to paint, invites, decorations and refreshments. The party package also includes a personalised plate for the party girl or boy - I will have a go at painting anything your child loves on their plate.

You are welcome to bring a small amount of party food, a cake and arrange party games for after the painting.

I cater for adult pottery painting parties too.

If you'd like to get creative on a hen do my 24 seat studio or 18 seat party room is perfect for you and your hens. Bring a bottle or two of bubbly and have a relaxing couple of hours creating your masterpiece.

I can cater for other parties too so if you want a place to come with your book club, colleagues, friends or sports team, then just get in contact. I am happy to open in the evening for gatherings  - ideal for more relaxing painting once the kids have gone to bed! Just contact me to enquire.

Pottery painting packages available from £15 per person for a minimum of 10 people. The price includes refreshments, pottery to paint, paints, glazing and firing. I also include in the price of any package a personalised plate for everyone to sign to remind them of the occasion. I can cater for adult parties for less than 10 too on a 'pay for what you paint' basis.

Why not create a perfect and precious keepsake for a loved one or for yourself.

I can help you create plates and mugs with baby's foot and/or hand prints and record the name, date of birth and weight on the pottery too. All paints are non toxic, baby safe and wash out of clothes very easily.

You can either come to me in my studio in Saltaire or I will come to your baby group to get the footprint and then take the pottery away to personalise, glaze and fire. Then it can be collected within a week or I can deliver it back to your baby group by prior arrangement.

I also do hand and foot imprints in clay in the studio. The finished piece can take up to 4 weeks as the clay needs to dry out thoroughly and then be fired twice but they are worth the wait! Photos are available on my Facebook page (link on the homepage above)

Prices

Individual pottery items from £3

Studio fee (to cover paints, glaze and firing)£2.50 per child painting or baby doing hand/foot prints, £3.50 per adult painting. You can stay as long as you like and paint as much as you like and only pay the studio fee once.

£2.50 per item is charged if you'd like us to add a personalised message to your painted pottery or baby hand/foot print for you.

Adult pottery painting party packages from £15 per person for a minimum of 10 people including pottery to paint, studio fee, refreshments and party plate.

Children's pottery painting party packages from £12 per person including pottery to paint, studio fee, decorations, refreshments, invites, party plate, party game prize for our unique Pin the Tail on the Salt Pots Zebra party game and exclusive use*. Parties booked in the party room are subject to a minimum number of 10 children. We can accommodate parties for less than 10 children in the main studio.

Tea and coffee served at £1 per person. £1 for a plate of biscuits to snack on while you paint.

Find us at 97 Bingley Road, Saltaire, West Yorkshire, BD18 4SB.

TERM TIME OPENING HOURS - Check back here a week before each school holiday for revised opening hours as I generally open all day every day including Mondays.

Wednesday 10am - 5pm (Wednesdays are Baby Wednesdays - pop in for discounts on hand and footprints)

Thursday 10am  - 5pm

Saturday 10am - 5pm

There is ample on street parking in Saltaire Village. The studio is a five minute walk from Saltaire train station with regular trains running to Leeds, Skipton and Bradford.

The studio is wheelchair and pushchair friendly although toilets, baby change facilities and the party room are located on the first floor.

Booking is not essential but is recommended in school holidays and on weekends as the studio can get very busy.

I also can open on evenings for pre booked groups of 10 or more, just email me, and I regularly host ladies evenings - keep an eye on facebook for the next date!

Mobile Studio

I offer a mobile pottery studio on evenings for group bookings of 20 or more (subject to there being no bookings in the studio at the date of enquiry). I am happy to travel to you at a small extra charge for petrol (no charge within 3 miles of Saltaire). I will come with a selection of pottery, paints and brushes then when you've finished I will take your painted pottery away to be glazed and fired. You can come and collect the finished pottery from me at my studio a few days later or I can post it at a small extra charge for post and packaging.

This service is ideal if you have a large group like WI or scout and guide groups or if you have a preferred venue.
